42 pollution convictions in Feb

The Environmental Protection Department today announced it recorded 42 convictions for pollution offences in February.   Twenty-three convictions were under the Public Cleansing & Prevention of Nuisances Regulation, while nine were under the Waste Disposal Ordinance.   There were also eight convictions for noise pollution and two under the Product Eco-responsibility Ordinance.   The heaviest fine was $28,000 given to a company for exporting waste not for recycling without a permit.
