Cathay supports outreach jab service

Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip and Secretary for Transport & Housing Frank Chan today visited Cathay Pacific City to view the administering of the BioNTech vaccine.   Around 160 staff of Cathay Pacific Group received the jabs via the Government's outreach vaccination service.   Mr Nip explained that Cathay Pacific has actively supported the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme that listed the aviation industry as a vaccination priority group when it began, adding that the vaccination rate of Cathay’s locally based air crew has reached 80%.   However, he stressed that the Government needs more people’s support on getting vaccinated to enable society to return to normal life.   Mr Nip said he hoped that more enterprises will join hands with the Government in promoting the Early Vaccination for All campaign.   Mr Chan pointed out that up till now, more than 70% of the locally based air crew members of the city’s aviation sector as a whole have received at least one dose of a vaccine.    He noted that the progress is encouraging as the rate is as high as 90% for the locally based pilots of the whole local aviation sector. Even so, he emphasised that it is equally important for everyone in the sector's various positions to be vaccinated.   Mr Chan called on the aviation community to get vaccinated as soon as possible to contribute towards the industry’s recovery and the upholding of Hong Kong’s status as an international aviation hub.   Enterprises and groups can call the hotline for the outreach vaccination service at 3904 1490 for arrangements.
