9 imported COVID-19 cases recorded

The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating nine additional imported COVID-19 cases involving patients who arrived from the UK, Indonesia, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Pakistan and Serbia.   The centre is also investigating an overseas case involving a 14-year-old girl who lives at Block 1, Grand Garden, 61 South Bay Road in Repulse Bay. She had received two doses of the BioNTech vaccine on July 29 and August 21 in Hong Kong.   Her sample collected on September 5 in Hong Kong tested negative for COVID-19. She travelled to the UK on September 8 on Cathay Pacific flight CX251.   The UK health authority notified the centre on September 20 that her specimen collected in the UK on September 10 tested positive. She remained asymptomatic.   The centre is following up on the case with the UK health authority and epidemiological investigations and contact tracing are underway.   The building where the patient stayed in Hong Kong was included in a compulsory testing notice yesterday, requiring relevant people to undergo testing.   A total of 38 cases were reported in Hong Kong in the past 14 days, all of them are imported.   For information and health advice on COVID-19, visit the Government’s dedicated webpage.
