Kevin Yeung visits Jiangmen, Zhuhai

Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung returned this afternoon from visits to Jiangmen and Zhuhai aimed at fostering collaboration in culture and tourism in the Greater Bay Area.   Meeting Jiangmen Vice Mayor Lin Jiansheng and Director of the Jiangmen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports Kuang Jikang yesterday, Mr Yeung discussed co-operation in the culture and tourism sectors with them.     He also toured the Jiangmen Wuyi Museum of Overseas Chinese, which showcases the Chinese diaspora’s contributions to the development of the world.   This morning in Zhuhai, Mr Yeung had a meeting with Zhuhai Mayor Huang Zhihao and Director of the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports Yan Weimin, in which they exchanged views and explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration.   The culture secretary also visited Zhuhai Grand Theatre, an architectural landmark housing facilities for large-scale integrated performances, to learn about its operation and development.   Mr Yeung said: “The Culture, Sports & Tourism Bureau has been adhering to the principle of ‘shaping tourism with cultural activities and promoting culture through tourism’ to achieve the goal of developing Hong Kong into an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange under the National 14th Five-Year Plan.”   With the country’s support, he added, Hong Kong, Jiangmen and Zhuhai can leverage resources in order to create unique experiences in Chinese culture and tourism.
