Basic Law quiz opens for application

The Home & Youth Affairs Bureau, the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education and the Working Group on Local Community under the Constitution & Basic Law Promotion Steering Committee are launching a new round of the Basic Law Quiz Competition.

 

The competition aims to enhance Hong Kong people's understanding of the relationship between the Constitution and the Basic Law, the Basic Law and its history, and the National Security Law.

 

The competition comprises the Family Category, Senior Primary School Category, Secondary School Category and Open Category. Participants shall answer quiz questions and submit applications via the competition website, or download the application form from the website to join the competition.

 

The competition opens from today for application. The deadline of the entry round is December 29.

 

Upon closing of the entry round, those with the best performance in each category will be selected by ballot to attend the Basic Law Quiz Final & Prize Presentation Ceremony tentatively scheduled for April 2024.

1 COVID-19 death recorded

The Hospital Authority today said a 77-year-old male COVID-19 patient has passed away, taking the number of COVID-19 patients who died in public hospitals to 202.   The patient was admitted to the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on July 20 last year for isolation treatment.   His condition deteriorated and he was transferred to the hospital's intensive care unit on July 27.   After treatment, the patient's antibody test result for COVID-19 was positive and he was released from an isolation order by the Department of Health on August 28.   Due to underlying diseases, he continued to stay in the hospital and was then transferred to Grantham Hospital's Tuberculosis & Chest Medical Unit on March 22 for further treatment.   The patient's condition continued to deteriorate and he passed away this afternoon. http://dlvr.it/RxbJzj

Testing compliance checks done

The Government today completed enforcement operations at Block 6 of Hanford Garden in Tuen Mun and Goldwin Heights at 2 Seymour Road in Mid-Levels, which were earlier included in compulsory testing notices.   The Civil Service Bureau conducted the Tuen Mun enforcement action from around 8.30am to 11.30am, while the Central & Western District Office carried out the Mid-Levels operation from around 8am to 11am.   Both actions were conducted together with Police and the Department of Health.   The Government arranged for staff to verify the testing certifications of people subject to compulsory testing at the buildings’ entrances and exits.   During the operations, the test records of about 200 people in Block 6 of Hanford Garden and about 430 people in Goldwin Heights were checked.   As a result, seven people in total were found to have violated the compulsory testing notice and were issued with a compulsory testing order.    A fixed penalty notice of $10,000 was also iss
