EDB launches Mental Health Charter

The Education Bureau today held a ceremony and briefing session for the 4Rs Mental Health Charter, with Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin speaking at the event.   The 4Rs in the charter stand for Rest, Relaxation, Relationship and Resilience, identified as the four elements and objectives in fostering good mental health for students.   Ms Choi appealed to all schools in Hong Kong to join the charter and work together to set practical and feasible goals, while taking actions to promote students’ physical and psychological health.   Schools participating in the charter should implement measures and activities for the promotion of their students’ mental health starting from the 2024-25 school. SFST meets US businesspeople

Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Christopher Hui met businesspeople and university scholars in Chicago yesterday, as he continued his visit to the US.   Mr Hui started the day by attending a breakfast seminar co-hosted by the Hong Kong Business Association of the Midwest and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).   He informed participants of the latest developments in Hong Kong's financial industry, and expressed his hope for the association to continue collaborating with the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in New York (New York HKETO) and the HKTDC.   At a lunch with scholars from the University of Chicago, Mr Hui talked about development opportunities in fintech and green and sustainable finance.    He stressed that Hong Kong is taking concerted action on several key fronts to accelerate the development of fintech in the city, elaborating that these include the Commercial Data Interchange platform, a government-led data sharing init

GBA rule of law action plan released

The Action Plan on the Construction of Rule of Law in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has been released, the Department of Justice (DoJ) announced today.   Secretary for Justice Paul Lam explained that the action plan has two intentions, namely to underpin the guiding principle of “Three Interfaces, Two Connects & One Greater Bay Area”, and strengthen collaboration with the legal and dispute resolution sectors and other stakeholders to effectively implement policy measures set out in the plan.   Through mechanisms, regulatory frameworks and talent – the “three interfaces” – the DoJ said it will promote hardware and software connectivity in constructing rule of law in the bay area, co-operation between the various cities according to their respective strengths, and collaboration between different legal systems, thereby eventually achieving the goal of “one Greater Bay Area”.   Deputy Secretary for Justice Cheung Kwok-kwan, who is also the leading Hong Kong

National Games schedules unveiled

The events of the 15th National Games (NG), the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympic Games (NSOG) to be held in Hong Kong were unveiled today.   The inaugural meetings of the organising committees of the Games were held this afternoon in Guangzhou, with Chief Executive John Lee leading a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region delegation to attend.   As executive chairman of the two organising committees, Mr Lee reported on the latest preparatory work by the Hong Kong SAR at the inaugural meetings.   Mr Lee said that the NG next year is of great significance as it will be the first time for the Games to be co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.   He added that the Hong Kong SAR Government will spare no effort in dovetailing with the requirements of the General Administration of Sport of China and maintaining close liaison with the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Macao Special Administrative Region Gov

Seminar on ‘two sessions’ held

The Chief Executive’s Policy Unit (CEPU) held a seminar today to discuss the implications of the second sessions of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) and the 14th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee for Hong Kong’s future development.   The seminar was hosted by Head of the CEPU Stephen Wong. Four CEPU Expert Group members, who are themselves deputies to the NPC and members of the CPPCC National Committee, gave keynote remarks.   These were Vice-chairperson of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Basic Law Committee Wong Yuk-shan, Hong Kong deputies to the NPC Nicholas Chan and Allen Yeung, and Hong Kong member of the CPPCC National Committee Charles Ng. Urban forestry forum opens
